I grew up riding my bike all over Boise’s North End, back when Hyde Park was a quiet stretch with little more than a run-down laundromat and the original Boise Co-Op. Today, this area has transformed into one of Boise’s most desirable neighborhoods, with beautifully restored historic homes, tree-lined streets, and some of the highest real estate values in the Treasure Valley.

The North End is Boise’s most iconic neighborhood, offering a mix of:

• Historic homes with charming character
• Mid-century and new infill construction
• Foothills-view properties
• Tightly knit community with an active neighborhood vibe

This area is in high demand for its walkability, proximity to downtown Boise, and easy access to the foothill trail system. Living here comes at a premium, but for many, the North End lifestyle is well worth the investment.

The “Trolley Streets”

Some of the most gracious streets in the North End were once part of Boise’s historic trolley system. After the trolley tracks were removed, these extra-wide streets became home to some of the most stunning residences in the city.

North 24th Street (Between Ellis & Lemp)

This is my absolute favorite street in the North End. Gorgeous early 1900s homes sit on oversized lots, shaded by mature trees. The neighboring blocks are equally desirable, with highlights including:

• Elm Grove Park at 23rd & Irene
• The picturesque area around 6th & O’Farrell

• Thatcher
• Pueblo

• 7th, 6th & 5th

This quiet part of the North End offers easy access to the Boise Co-Op and local landmarks like Hollywood Market (8th & Resseguie).

South of State Street: North End Living at a Lower Price

While South of State Street isn’t as sought-after as the area north of State, it presents a great opportunity to enjoy North End living at a more affordable price. Many residents love this area for its prime location, offering:

• Closer proximity to the Boise River Greenbelt & downtown
• Easier freeway access
• Walking distance to shops & restaurants

Neighborhood highlights include:

• The park at 23rd & Bannock
• The shopping district at 17th & State
